ISO9001-2015 Compliance

In a Quality Progress publication, Syed Hasan Jaffrey discussed the benefits of being ISO9001 compliant…

He says that being ISO9001-2015 compliant is good for your company for many reasons.

Benefits

Of the many benefits of ISO 9001: 2000, these are the three most significant:

  • It provides a framework for a well-organized QMS [quality management system].
  • It creates satisfied customers, management and employees.
  • It helps companies continually improve.

ISO 9001:2000 certification authenticates the high quality standards of an organization. Besides benefiting the employees, it also benefits the organization by organizing its processes. It not only gives flexible criteria, but also allows an organization to monitor and increase the efficiency of its processes.

And always remember to say what you do and do what you say. In other words, be honest.

My Take

Companies are always looking for ways to increase revenues and to cut costs.  Being ISO9001-2015 compliant is a step in that direction.

Increased Revenues

When a potential customer is looking for a supplier, being ISO compliant is most often a requirement.

Processes focusing on your customers will help you keep those customers.

Decreased Costs

Having the necessary processes in place indicates that you have given them a lot of thought and likely improved how your company does business.

Following a process allows you the opportunity to see if it is working; if it is working well; and gives you the opportunity to make improvements.

I don’t know any company that is not satisfied that they are ISO9001 compliant, so join in.  Fortunately, today’s PLM software has the necessary functionality to make complying with ISO9001-2015 simple – take a look at what is out there.
